Fall Foliage Pictures

We went to Fredricksburg this last weekend to see some battlefields. I thought about Mom's love of the Fall foliage and so I took some pictures for her!






The following two pictures were taken at the National Fredricksburg Civil War Cemetery.

Mike Update

Mike went to the doctor Friday am. The doctor said he has had all but a miraculous recovery from mono. He is doing well - his swollen glands are minimally inflamed. However, we have been advised to have him ease back into school so that he doesn't have a relapse. Last Sunday afternoon he asked for a blessing - I am amazed by his faith. He is a wonderful young man. Thanks for all your prayer - I am sure that he was blessed by your faith as well.

Michael has Mono

Yesterday Mike went to the ER because his tonsils were so swollen and he was having a hard time swallowing. We found out that he has Mono. THis means that he may not be able to wrestle for an extended period of time. He is trying to get better FAST - so anyone with experience with this virus please let me know. I would appreciate any advice.

My Favorite Picture of Davis

I just scrap booked my favorite picture of Davis from the Spring 2006. I think he just looks vibrant and so himself. I hope you all enjoy this little cutie pie!

A fun time at the park

We have just found a beautiful park about 20 minutes from our home. It is a lovely waterfront park with a playground and a great place to ride bikes. It reminds me of Dillon Park where I grew up. I just can't resist sunsets! I am not sure what it is about them, but I find them breath taking!



Dave is just figuring out how to ride a bike. He had a great time with his bike and a scooter. He didn't want to leave, but the park closes at dusk and as you can see it was pretty much dusk.



Morgan had to do everything. He loves the water and his skateboard. He saw a water snake and was pretty excited about it. Then he got ALL of his safety gear on and did a little skateboarding. He is getting better.



Shawn had fun as you can see. He is a little less protected.


Mike couldn't come because he had to work at Stevie's. He is getting ready to give his 2 weeks notice because it is almost wrestling season - I'm not sure if it is because of the ice cream or the lack of time, but either way he only had a couple more weeks to work.

By the way Stacy mentioned to me (while I was helping both Michael and Davis with their homework and Shawn was making dinner(Spaghetti, but gratefully he did it!), so if I am wrong you all can forgive me...) that this lady was on a mission with Shawn in South Africa? I'll have to verify that - but somehow she is connected to his mission.

Exciting Morning On the 1st Day Of School

Well Tuesday was our first day of school for everyone. It was pretty eventful. At 7:05 AM, I am standing in my bathroom doing my hair, and Morgan SCREAMS at the top of his lungs "I need help!" Well I rush downstairs (almost falling down the stairs) to find Morgan hysterical in the kitchen. He has fallen on the porch and smacked his leg on the corner of our concrete side porch. He had a triangular shaped hole on the shin of his leg. He is about to go into shock because he thinks that he can see the bone. I am in agreement. (We later found out that it wasn't the bone that we were seeing, just fatty tissue. Did you know that fatty tissue is white?) So I have him lay down on the kitchen floor and I put pressure on it to control the bleeding. Which surprisingly was not that much for as deep a cut as it was... Shawn runs upstairs and finishes putting his clothes on. Morgan is still hysterical so I am trying to calm him down. Shawn takes him to the ER. He got 8 BIG stitches because on the location and size of his laceration. He then went on to school - he planned his arrival for MAXIMUM social impact. (He is my social butterfly.) I have not include a picture of the graphic image, but I will post his scar when it is healed.

By the way this was on my 39th birthday. I didn't even remember it was my birthday until my Mother-in-law called me 10 minutes later to wish me a Happy Birthday. This is the 2nd time I have forgotten my own birthday. So if I forget yours - please don't be upset they just slip out of my memory.

Note: My family ALL remembered it was my birthday after things settled down. I had a wonderful dinner of Steak, Shrimp, and Sea Scallops (my favorite!). They also got me some really cute pieces of jewelry (I helped pick out). All in all a pretty memorable day! Perhaps to overshadow the fact that I am almost 40! YIKES!

Craziness Begins

I didn't want to leave you all hanging for another week - so I thought that I would post. These last 2 weeks have been really busy. Between Cheerleading, Flag, Band, Seminary preparation, and work we are all hopping. I think that the only pictures that have been taken are Morgan's Lego movies. Shawn started back at work and Mike starts school tomorrow. Dave is the only one that isn't busy, but someone has to watch him all the time. I think that if I can keep all the balls in the air until October then all will be well.

Dolphins at work

Today Shawn and Michael drove the boat through a pod of 6 - 8 dolphins. They didn't have a camera - but they had a cell phone that takes video. It was pretty cool. I was jelous that I wasn't at work today. Sorry the video is so bad! You can't really see it, but a dolphin swam under the boat durng the video. They were both pretty excited. They finally decided to start taking video after 10 minutes and they were still playing near the boat.



Shawn said that he was tempted to jump in, but I think he was too scared beacuse he said - "They are big!" This is from a marine biologist! HEHEHE!

Not Much Going ON?

Morgan Climbed a Rock Wall

My First Photo Shop Layout!

I have been trying to scrapbook for years, but the set up was prohibitive with my schedule! So after watching what everyone can do with digital scrapbooking, I decided to give it a try. Here is my first attempt. I didn't even use a template. I used one of Amy's "free" sources - Shabby Princess. I am pretty pleased, but I have a long way to go. What do you all think?

The floor is DONE!

The Dinning Room floor is finally done. YEAH! It was a ridiculous ammount of work, but I think it will be worth it. I cannot put any furniture on it until Wednesday afternoon. UGH!

Air Hockey

I won an Air Hockey "Tri". I am not sure where it is finally going to end up - but for now it is Davis's Room. There has been some discussion about making some bedroom changes. This new game will probably clinch the changes happening sooner rather than later.



Dave practices all of the time. He loves it!

Shawn LOVES playing games with the kids. We are having a grand time with this new toy. Mike of course hasn't even had the opportunity yet as he is away at camp.

Michael at WRESTLING CAMP

I get a text from Michael today ( he is supposed to be at Appalachian State University, wrestling camp, in North Carolina) "Guess what I did?" To which I respond - get your first PIN. "No," he says, "but I jumped off of a dam" - I was like - WHAT. I immediately say to Shawn "that warrants a telephone call." (The over-protective mother that I am picked up the cell phone immediately!) I ask him, "you are at wrestling camp, right." He assures me that he is ok and it was a lot of fun, but Coach Orin wanted to take all of us to do it. I am not so sure that I trust this coach anymore (just kidding - super great guy). But I think is he trying to create eating disorders AND no fear? Totally crazy and I wonder why I have gray hair - plenty of it!

Later he sent me another text that he got his first PIN in a match today - he was pretty excited. Way to go Mickey Stickey! He should be back Monday night.

Floor Project

We are refinishing our dining room floor- Yikes we have never done this before.

Saturday I pulled up the carpet - LOOK What I found??? Wow that is NOT so beautiful. I believe that I am crazy!



Here is Shawn - look at all of the energy - trust me when I say that it was gone at Midnight.



Look at this finish from 1908 - WHAT DID THEY USE????? ARGH - It took us 12 hours of work removing this GUNK.



After 3 trips to home depot - this is our floor today at 5:00 PM - It was a process. Now all we have left to do is 2 days of Polyurithane. Can you hear the giddiness in my voice! No that is not the fumes - yet

4th of July Picnic
